  Any guess or estimate when an ebuild for Mozilla will be available?

  Thanks,
Sebastian

I'm not sure I would bother is a way. I just installed the binary 1.4B from
mozilla.org and it rocks. I did it out of lazyness as something that mozilla
is built against seems to be broken at present and from about 3 weeks ago
every version I tried building would seg fault on certain web pages. Even
the 1.3 version that I had previously built and had been stable started to
seg fault on these URLs.

Totally unofficial, you could grab my mozilla 1.4a ebuild from
http://triskell.frlinux.net it works perfectly under Gentoo (a couple of
positive feedbacks too). I'm awaiting Mozilla sources to switch it to
1.4b

I have similar experience. I have two machines with Gentoo - one with stable
branch with ~x86 GNOME and mozilla-1.3 - there mozilla (built in May) often
fails (no message, simply disappears). The second machine (mozilla built in
March) is completelly ~x86 (with some masked packages) - there mozilla does not
crash.

Both mozillas are built against GTK2.

I can look at both machines and compare ebuild versions.

I think that disappearing Mozilla problem is actually the java plugin
crashing and taking Mozilla with it. At least, when this happens on my
box(es), it's always been the case.

If you run mozilla from the command line, you actually get some output
about the Java plugin as it disappears.

No Java when I had the problem here. The problem started sometime after I
built 1.3 2 months maybe. Rebuilding 1.21 still had the same problem. The
page I was accessing didn't have any Java as far as I am aware. You could
actually get to the home page but it would crash as soon as you clicked on
one of the links. www.theregister.co.uk for those who are interested. Since
downloading 1.4B and installing it, there has been no problem.

  Would that one work with Mozilla 1.4b as well?

There's a typo in that ebuild:

SRC_URI="htp://triskell.frlinux.net/files/${PN}-source-${MY_PV2}.tar.bz2"

should be:

SRC_URI="http://triskell.frlinux.net/files/${PN}-source-${MY_PV2}.tar.bz2"

You haven't trojaned those sources have you ;-)
