Hello Everyone,
As you may have noticed, Gentoo is growing rapidly. And with the growth, our need for new developers. Currently, we are seeking people in the following categories:
1. Watchers (open positions: 5): People who will watch for updates in specific categories in the portage tree and either update accordingly, or inform the maintainers of the packages. Additionally, these individuals will watch for ~x86 to x86 transitions, and again update accordingly, or communicate with the maintainers.
2. Programmers (open positions: 1 or 2) who can take over maintainership of gentoo-stats and gentoo-stable websites. Currently, both pages are java-based. Choice of language is not important. These pages need to be fixed of any broken-ness, and then maintained so that more and more users can use them.
3. Programmer (open position: 1) who can take over the ufed utility for USE flags. There are many changes being made to USE flags, including the addition of /usr/portage/use.local.desc which need to be incorporated into Ufed. Additionally, there are a few bugs to be ironed out in it.
4. Someone to assist with emacs/xemacs (category) maintainership.
If you are interested in any of these, please e-mail me directly, and not the mailing list.
Thanks,

Does this acuallyl include doing updates to ebuilds and submitting them etc etc ?
Either way take this as a "pick me, pick me" ;P

Gday all,
Just wondering what the status of this call for developers was.
I replied a few days ago and was wondering how the sift through
volunteers was going. I have recieved no reply yet. A small
update on progress may just inform people of the status of
their offer.
May I suggest next time that a better idea maybe to set up an email
address say dev-volunteers@gentoo.org, so that at least a reply with
a simple "Thanks for your offer we will look at it soon." can be delivered.
Just so people are not left hanging wondering if seemant even got the offer.
Just an idea, but maybe a handy one considering the evergrowing
community behind Gentoo.
Cheers,
Mark Wolfe

Yeah, some kind of feedback would have been helpful.
