Hi,

I'm having problem getting my sound working. I get this message

i810: Intel ICH4 found at IO 0xe080 and 0xe400, IRQ 11
i810_audio: Audio Controller supports 6 channels.
i810_audio: Primary codec not ready.

lspci -v (Output)

According to this link http://lwn.net/Articles/8866/ the bug should have
been fixed in several patches (2.4.20-pre1-ac3 and 2.4.20-pre5-ac1) but
I can't see anywhere if those patches are applied to the gentoo-sources
version 2.4.20-r2

Hope someone can give me some helpfull tips on which patches are applied
to gentoo-sources ?

Install sys-kernel/ac-sources and give that a try.
