This is something I hate. My /usr/portage is NFS (RO) and everytime I upgrade
baselayout I get:
>>> /usr/include/GL -> ../X11R6/include/GL
>>> /usr/include/X11 -> ../X11R6/include/X11
--- /usr/include/asm/
>>> /usr/include/asm/.keep
>>> /usr/include/.keep
--- /usr/include/linux/
>>> /usr/include/linux/.keep
!!! Cannot write to '/usr/portage'.
!!! Please check permissions and directories for broken symlinks.
!!! You may start the merge process again by using ebuild:
!!! ebuild /usr/portage/sys-apps/baselayout/baselayout-1.8.6.4.ebuild merge
!!! And finish by running this: env-update
Can this be fixed, please?
Thanks in advance,
Norberto

Hello All,
I have a similar problem like yours.
My /usr/portage/distfiles directory is a nfs mounted filesystem but since some
time there was some changes to portage that makes it unuseable because some
permissions are not set the right way. There is write access for everyone on
the exported NFS directory.
The Output of portage looks like this:
>>> emerge (1 of 1) app-admin/kportage-0.6.1 to /
!!! File system problem. (ReadOnly? Out of space?)
!!! Perhaps: rm -Rf /var/tmp/portage
!!! [Errno 1] Operation not permitted: '/usr/portage/distfiles/cvs-src'
changing the permissions of the NFS exported dir and the cvs-src subdir didn't
helped. I'm not a NFS Junkie so i don't know what to do... When i do
# umount /usr/portage/distfiles
everything works fine but i didn't have a shared disfiles directory.
Kind regards
hanez

That's another thing and it's already fixed in portage 2.0.47-r10.

Norberto
