Hi All,

There is a new experimental livecd at
http://www.gentoo.org/dyn/experimental/livecd/livecd-basic-x86-2002121600.iso

I am posting this message to the gentoo-dev mailing list as well to get
additional beta testers. If you are on the gentoo-dev list, please don't
post this above URI on any Web sites or public forums -- it's for beta
testers only (if you want to be one) and not for the general public.

All bugs should be reported at bugs.gentoo.org and attached to the
"Gentoo LiveCD (all flavors)" product. I will receive and respond to all
reported bugs.

If you'd like to install Gentoo Linux 1.4 release beta, a stage1 tarball
is available in /mnt/cdroot/gentoo. There are no support scripts like
"net-setup" on the CD yet -- we're focusing on ensuring that the CD is
as hardware-compatible as possible at this point. Please don't report
this as a bug.

Changes since the 2002121000 CD:
Support for aic7xxx_old autodetection has been removed due to the fact
that the aic7xxx_old module will lock up some IBM Netfinity servers and
other machines. This is in response to bugs 12185 and 11278.

Best Regards,

Hi guys .. any chance that we can get a mimimal perl,
automake/autoconf/libtool and m4 in the stage1 tarball ?

For one, Dams's libconf needs perl (we are going to start using
it soon, right ?), and glibc-2.3.1 already start to rely on
autoconf although not fully yet ...

Will grab it and test on a few hardware I had issues with (compac prolient, cyrix cpu machines)

I tried to find some info on cyrix chips. Wanted to do an install on a machine with cyrix chip but kept crashing.
I'm arranging to get that machine back here and replacing machine with Pii for testing purpouses.

I'll also do testing on compaq prolient servers as there are a number of memory related issues with those machines.
