Subject: [gentoo-dev] HELP! sgml is broken somewhere in my system

Please, I need your help to find an awkward problem I have on only one
of the boxes I installed Gentoo on.
I can't generate any kind of docs from sgml files. Whenever I try to
emerge pango or gtk+-2 for example, at 'install' phase of the emerge I
get the following:
-- Installing ./html/trek.png
-- Installing ./html/ul_angle.png
-- Installing ./html/umbrella.png
-- Installing ./html/ur_angle.png
-- Installing ./html/watch.png
-- Installing ./html/X_cursor.png
-- Installing ./html/xterm.png
-- Installing ./html/index.sgml
/bin/install: cannot stat `./html/index.sgml': No such file or directory

make: *** [install-recursive] Error 1
!!! ERROR: The ebuild did not complete successfully.
!!! Function src_install, Line 66, Exitcode 2
!!! (no error message)
Also, when I build mutt from cvs - I have to send my ebuild for it if
there's any interest -, I can't get a manual.txt created.
The call 'sgml2txt -c latin manual' doesn't do anything.
In packages which build documentation files using openjade, I see lots
of errors from jade about wrong and not understood tokens within the
file it's trying to process.
It all seems to come to the same problem, it does not happen on other
boxes which I have which approximately the same base system, yet I
couldn't spot the difference causing the annoying issue.
Any help will be _greatly_ appreciated, since I've suffered from it for
a long time.
