Hi
I tried to do this
root@power:/home/httpd/htdocs/gentoo# emerge -p gtkhtml
These are the packages that I would merge, in order.
Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild U ] gnome-base/control-center-1.4.0.5-r1 to /
[ebuild N ] gnome-extra/gtkhtml-1.0.2-r2 to /
root@power:/home/httpd/htdocs/gentoo# emerge gtkhtml
and got this....any ideas?

could you please check what versoins of gconf you have installed?
(tip)
qpkg gconf -v
it might be a bad dependency.
(Not sure yet)

That was what I was suspecting
quick fix:
emerge \<gconf-1.2.0
Long fix : I'm getting there, its a bug in the gtkhtml dependency list

It looks like ld cannot find libgconf-gtk-1 which is
provided by gconf.
$ qpkg -I -i -f /usr/lib/libgconf-gtk-1.so
gnome-base/gconf-1.0.8-r3 *
Gconf [ http://www.gnome.org/ ]
In gnome-extra/gtkhtml/gtkhtml-1.0.4.ebuild gconf is
shown as a dependency but it is dependent on the
'gnome' USE flag.
Double check and make sure you have gconf installed.
