hmm.. the sim/flightgear ftp servers seem to be a bit "gentoo'ed"
atm ;)
thus, first try to emerge the things as usual, then try a manual
download of the tarballs from a close mirror: see
http://www.simgear.org/mirrors.html (SimGear-0.0.18.tar.gz) and
http://www.flightgear.org/mirrors.html
(FlightGear-0.7.10.tar.gz, fgfs-base-0.7.10.tar.gz)
if you still do not succeed, try these temporarily mirrored files
(by http. please be kind to that server, it has only ~10 kbit/s
upstream. else i will need to remove the files.):
http://www.icu.unizh.ch/~mettlerd/gentoo/files/SimGear-0.0.18.tar.gz
(1.3 mb)
http://www.icu.unizh.ch/~mettlerd/gentoo/files/FlightGear-0.7.10.tar.gz
(1.1 mb)
http://www.icu.unizh.ch/~mettlerd/gentoo/files/fgfs-base-0.7.10.tar.gz
(30 mb, base files.. relax, there's no compilation required ;)
put them in /usr/portage/distfiles and emerge.
nb. if you have a slow internet connection it's probably a good
idea to download and emerge the files/ebuilds step-by-step (as
successful builds of metakit, simgear and some more are
_required_ for building flightgear):
emerge -p SimGear
emerge SimGear
(eventually download required tarballs manually)
if it succeeded:
emerge -p FlightGear
emerge FlightGear (takes a while)
(eventually download required tarballs manually)
have fun
dan
