Check out http://telemetrybox.org/livecd/startup for what you see when you bootup. CD does: - Boot a fully functional gentoo system from CD. - Autodetects hardware - Starts a browser (links in graphics mode) displaying instructions and allowing to browse the net. - Can play mp3s while you install. - Can play videos (0.4) - Can autoconfigure and run X off the CD. mozilla, xfce and fluxbox provided. - Contains a menu based installer - Contains a menu based management interface. So far I have had >300 accesses to the image and some reports of successful installations. I plan to enhance the CD to include KDE and Koffice. All binaries are prebuild for Pentium on the CD and will be installed without building them if so desired. This allows a gentoo installation in 10 minutes with a comfortable set of software. The installation process from http://gentoo.org works of course. You only have a much more comfortable environment. ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 4+ messages in thread

If you haven't already, contact Seemant Kulleen <seemant@gentoo.org> and Daniel Robbins <drobbins@gentoo.org> about getting mention all over the gentoo.org site and such ;-) Thanks! --Brandon On Tue, 07/23/02 at 21:01:16 -0700, christoph@lameter.com wrote: > On http://telemetrybox.org/livecd/ you can find some CDs with live gentoo > installations. Would be cool if somebody notified me about this stuff as well... I've been trying for some time now to collect some programmers who can assist in making the installer, but if i'm not informed about stuff like this, we'll have lots of duplicate efforts, don't you think?... || || --Brandon || || On Tue, 07/23/02 at 21:01:16 -0700, christoph@lameter.com wrote: || > On http://telemetrybox.org/livecd/ you can find some CDs with live || > gentoo installations.
