Hello,

I have been searching for a quite long time now for IPv6 support in Gentoo.
I am not refering to the kernel, v6 support is there but I miss some (important) packages like ping6, traceroute6 etc.

Gentoo doesn't have the ip-utils package, the other package I know about is net-tools which indeed is there at sys-apps/net-tools

According to the author of net-tools it has ping6, traceroute6 etc. included but when I compile it, I don't have it although I have the IPv6 USE-flag set.

grep -rli xxx /usr/portage/*-*

doesn't give anything useful, too (x being 'ipv6', 'ping6' or 'traceroute6').

My question is, if there is anybody responsible for IPv6 at Gentoo or does anybody know how I can get those tools (some guy in the forums had the same problem).

I am looking forward to do an ebuild :)

Sincerely
Rainer Groesslinger

Hi,

I also thought about that: http://fireserver.ath.cx/gentoo/msg23144.html
I think, ping6 and traceroute6 would be fine and lot of other
programs which already support ipv6 should take care of the ipv6
use flag.
