as discussed in #gentoo-dev today, I got it back and commented so I'm
forwarding here.
I dont have the time, nor the skills to take over the project, but since
I know the guy RL I can do some interchange and other stuff necessary.

In gentoo or what?

Prolly, they haven't submitted any patches to me :( But on the other hand,
they don't know very well how it works (they never really asked me to
explain it)...

Haha! Like back in the 8.0 times...

Yep, there are actually two "modules" to Aurora for this, both based on
the uggly-hack WsLib.

Haha! But, OK, it _is_ a small lib, and it does what it needs to do I
guess...

Not atm, but it would not be impossible to do that. On the other hand,
there is a reason to keep Aurora running on some other VC, just in case
someone presses CTRL-ALT-DEL or runs init 0/6, to show the reboot/shutdown
procedure too... But OK, that could be hacked. But you could still not see
for example a switch between runlevel 4 and 5 (if both allows your running
X-session). But perheaps you could just modify the monitor itself (the
Gtk-program) to be runnable as a stand-alone progrram that the user can
run to change runlevel from within X (if they are root) and to monitor
their service startup/stops...
Anyway, would you, or someone else near you on gentoo, be interrested in
taking over the developement? I could give you a nice IRL crash-course if
you want... And of course you would get access to modify the
aurora.mini.dhs.org website...

Egil
