Mozilla 1.0rc2 has been out for a little while, and, since it contains
security-related fixes, I think that we should feature it in our
portage collection.
Anyhow, I've committed the ebuild for it (the legwork done by David
Wirch <kuma@linuxboxen.org>). It is masked for now. Could y'all try
it out, and if it works for everybody, we should unmask it and remove
the ebuilds for the previous versions (because of the security
vulnerability in them).
HAND,

I was about to send a success email because it worked fine on the web
pages I tried but then when I clicked send in the mail compose window
nothing happened.
That is a problem worthy of keeping it masked IMO.

I tend to disagree as alot of people do not require mail support in mozilla.
Couldn't it just be made to die if the use for mozilla mail support was
enabled with the message that says "Mozilla mail support is broken in this
rev. If you require mozilla mail support use $NON_BUSTED_VERSION"

I believe it is a bad idea to start including 'broken' ebuilds in portage.
I don't believe it is professional. If something doesn't work, then it should
be use-at-your-own-risk, which is why we have the masking feature.

this is true - however, mozilla_rc1 contains a security bug which needs
to be fixed too!

But if you don't allow it to build the broken piece you still have a stable
piece of software. I fail to see how having the ebuild fail if the user
requests a broken part of it is "unprofessional".
Also, I'm of the opinion that anything security related should be elevated
on the priority list a wee bit.

I tracked the problem down to the Enigmail add on package. So change my
vote to unmask it.
