Hi,
I'm working on a new Gentoo kernel patch (O(1), ac3 (rmap and so on),
preempt, +++), but XFS and ac3 collides badly. In fs/buffer.c, XFS wants
to change the tryagain variable, which ac3 has removed (it has made the
whole function a void, where it would return tryagain before). Now I'm
wondering: have any of you got a clue what to do? I'd really like to use
the ac patch, but we need XFS, right? If we are to drop ac, we need to
either use 2.4.19-preX, or backport some fixes...
Any ideas?

I know that Daniel has been working on using -ac as our new kernel
base, so he might well have a good advice for you. You might also
want to e-mail AC and ask. It can't hurt!

PS. Welcome back!

This patch is supposed to enable DMA for audio-cds on IDE-cdroms so programs
like cdparanoia will be much faster...
I haven't tested it yet, but could it please be included in Gentoo by default
if it works? It only touches two files ( drivers/cdrom/cdrom.{c,h} ) so it
shouldn't interfere with other patches...

how do you propose testing this to make sure it actually works?
I'm running -jam series here, so device a test and I can verify it .

I've successfully patched the gentoo-2.4.19.r5 sources with this (very small)
patch and it works great! cdparanoia uses about 3% CPU instead of 35% now...
