Subject: [gentoo-dev] kernel issue
Date: Tue, 30 Apr 2002 09:57:56 -0500	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <200204300957.56113.marioy@logos.upb.edu.co> (raw)

Greetings

I've just compiled the new kernel (gentoo-sources) and I have commed across a
little issue. When I specify that my procesor is a Amd K7, the vfat module
compiles good but it wont get loaded.

Issuing a "insmod vfat", reports something like "sys_ctl_mmx not defined". I'm
not much of a developer but I'd say that the vfat module needs some pentium
mmx instructions.

Once I change the option "Proccesor type" back to Pentium III the problem
fades away.

Just something to keep in mind and maybe to put in the documentation.

Regards
Mario
