Ok so I want to submit a program for an ebuild, why do I have to submit it as
a bug?

Where can I find documentation on turing it into an ebuild myself, as to save
you guys some work. How can I become a maintainer?

	Hi;

On the http://www.gentoo.org/ page are several links to
such information.
As far as ebuilds go, you can probably submit several
types of bugs: a) I want prog xyz! please make an ebuild.
b) Here is my ebuild for prog xyz! please include it.
c) The ebuild for xyz if broked; here is my fix...

http://www.gentoo.org/doc/ebuild-submit.html
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/gentoo-howto.html
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/eclass-howto.html
etc.
(look for 'Developer Resources')

ps. as part of my ongoing evaluation/observation of this
distribution, I have submited an ebuild, and submited a
few things I considered bugs, with fixes attached, and they
have all had appropriate attention. Gentoo is young, but I
continue to be _highly_ impressed.

Although [ a ] isn't going to get you your ebuild fast :o)
Most devs just close the bug, asking you to make an ebuild and submit that..
We already have loads of work, both IRL and on the distro itself, so it's
really impossible to start taking requests :o)
But you could ask on #gentoo to one of the users there if they want to make
your ebuild, if you really don't have the knowledge to do it yourself...
