Hi,

I'm just writing to tell you guys that I'm alive, and will start working on a
pam_tcb ebuild for the secure Gentoo profile today. For those of you who
don't know what tcb is, it's a shadowing scheme written by Nergal and Solar
Designer, allowing users to change and read their passwords (even though
they're shadowed) without root access. This effectively allows passwd and
other programs to lose their suid-root-ness, still working flawlessly.

I expect the ebuild to be somewhat troublesome (with patches to shadow-utils,
too), but they should be submitted to Bugzilla this week.

If you haven't got any suggestions or objections, I'll start right away.

Regards,

Where can I can find more detailed information about this? I tried searching
with google, but did not find anything describing tcb.

Somewhere on www.openwall.com, I'd guess. Perhaps you'll need to download the
Owl GNU/*/Linux native tarball to take a look at it, as I'm not sure how much
information is available on the website.
