I am realatively > new to Linux, but have 10+ years of Unix experience, so I can follow a > general plan. yes this should work With the old FETCHCOMMAND syntax, the probably easiest way would have been to replace it to: FETCHCOMMAND="echo \${x} >> filesToDownload" then start emerge --fetchonly packagesFromInstallManual gnome mozilla whateverYouWant the use this file with wget: wget -i filesToDownload and put all this files into /usr/portage/distfiles this should work Unfortunately I don't know the new syntax for FETCHCOMMAND. if somebody could help here... christian
