Hi devs/users,
We've just released a much anticipated upgrade to sys-libs/pam
and sys-apps/shadow. The new versions are now standard for
all profiles. Older versions have been masked out.
This gives us pam_stack.so, /etc/pam.d/system-auth and various
other new pam modules. In addition we now make use of cracklib
for system password security. Existing packages providing an
/etc/pam.d file should be updated to make use of pam_stack.so
gradually. Vice versa any new package providing a pam.d/ file
should try to make use of pam_stack'ed system-auth where at
all possible. This greatly simplifies pam configuration.
Please remember to update your /etc/pam.d files if you have
config file protection enabled. (you should!)
If you have passwd problems after installing, please reboot.
Cheers
Donny <woodchip@gentoo.org>
