I am a tad skeptical about adding the 0.9 series to media-libs, unless we really have to. If vlc is the only program that requires 0.9, and I am the only one interested in vlc, I suggest we wait. If not, I can be persuaded to package an unstable alsa-lib from the 0.9 series and update the vlc builds to require it. I do not have any hopes of the vlc guys doing a backport to 0.5 at this stage. Especially considering the fact that there are numerous other details they should fix in vlc first, the GUI being high on that list ;p Comments ? Karl T
