This is because the LVM build currently depends upon perl, which is not in
the build system currently. I am working on getting the perls scripts
converted to bash, and linuxver, lvmver, and iopver are now patched in the
CVS portage tree. There are still the LVM patch generation scripts to
convert however...

You could go into the linux-headers ebuild and comment out the LVM patching
section...I'm not super familiar with that though. Daniel would know better
than I how to fix it...sorry.

This was fixed about 4 days ago. Have you done an emerge rsync
recently?

;) Yeah I did.... That is the reason why I'm wondering.

You said that you are using linux-headers, correct? I assume you're using
linux-headers-2.4.8.8; is this also correct? If so, there is no possible way
for you to hit the perl problem you describe, since configure no longer gets
run. If my assumptions are wrong, please let me know.

Best Regards,

Well, if you are bootstrapping _rc6-r3 in order to create a "real" system, you
will run into this problem. Merge perl to your build image and the problem
should go away. Note that I (and I'm the creator/lead developer for Gentoo
Linux) am not even building full systems out of this build image yet, so you
shouldn't expect too much support at this time. Expect things to break.

Best Regards,
