I have trouble building minicom-1.83.1, I get the following two suspect
passages in the build:

--- snip

msgfmt -o ja.mo ja.po
ja.po: warning: Charset "euc-japanese" is not a portable encoding name.
Message conversion to user's charset might not work.
cc ujis2sjis.c -o ujis2sjis
./ujis2sjis <ja.po >ja_JP.SJIS.po
msgfmt -o ja_JP.SJIS.mo ja_JP.SJIS.po
ja_JP.SJIS.po: warning: Charset "euc-japanese" is not a portable encoding name.
Message conversion to user's charset might not work.

--- snip

and

--- snip

msgfmt -o ko.mo ko.po
ko.po:131: invalid multibyte sequence
ko.po:917: invalid multibyte sequence
ko.po:1095: invalid multibyte sequence
ko.po:1992: invalid multibyte sequence
ko.po:2039: invalid multibyte sequence
found 5 fatal errors
make[1]: *** [ko.mo] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/tmp/portage/minicom-1.83.1/work/minicom-1.83.1/src/po'

--- snip

If I didn't know better, I'd say there's some kind of version mismatch
with gettext. Even when I rsynced < 10 mins ago, there is only one gettext
ebuild.

Has anybody else gotten minicom to compile lately ?

Regards,

Karl T

I get the same thing. Can you use app-misc/ckermit? Kermit kicks butt.
Give it a try.

What's the difference between root and God ?
God doesn't think that he is root.

At least that one built and merged properly ;)

Btw, why is ckermit in app-misc while minicom is in net-dialup ?

minicom shouldn't really be in net-dialup IMHO, noone really uses them to
dial modems anymore. So I didn't think that make any sense.
