[gentoo-dev] postfix is a party-pooper

Ummmm....

About 4 hours ago, the mailer on this system (postfix) died.  Postfix has been
having major file locking problems that I don't have time to resolve (possibly
due to it using a different file locking mechanism than Berkeley DB, which it
uses).  The problem got really bad this morning when postfix died and refused
to start up again.

I think I've fixed everything.  We're now using the "exim" mailer (seems to
be working well).  We're upgraded to kernel 2.4.0-ac11 (nice stuff), and the
mailing lists should all be working.  And I'll be able to add a few more new
mailing lists since "newaliases" works now.  Whee. :)

Thanks to Jerry for the exim mailer package.  I would have been (really) dead
without it :)

Maybe you should mount your root with the option "conv" once, if you have created
it with
an older version of reiserfs that 3.6.26 (which is the one on 2.4.0-ac11).

I'm currently working on r1, which includes a new reiserfs/nfs patch and a fix
for lvm-install (the "make install" line was missing). Did you ever test
lvm-tools? I did not have the time jet over here.

I've already added a 2.4.0.11-r1, so yours will be -r2 :)
I'm going to be testing the LVM tools over here this evening.

Yes I saw, mine is -r2.

There is a new beta out now, which I detected that at freshmeat after I build -r2,
maybe you want to update because
the bugs fixed sound not unimportant.
