Who had the ******* idea to download perl-modules from
cpan.valueclick.com? today the download of the following modules failed:

Parse-RecDescent
libnet
MIME-Base64
HTML-Parser
libwww-perl

if you replace cpan.valueclick.com by cpan.org in the ebuild everything
works, and you do not download any advertisments ...

I thought the ebuild should point to the as original as possible source
if the download from a mirror fails?

Martin,

	What advertisements??

cpan.valueclick, for the record, is an authorized mirror site of cpan.org. I tend to point users to the mirrors and not the primary site in ebuilds to lessen the load on cpan.org.
If you are experiencing a problem with those ebuilds as is, please submit a bug report at bugs.gentoo.org. Thanks!

I have been meaning to ask this for a while. Would it not make sense to
choose a few mirrors from <http://cpan.org/SITES.html> for
thirdpartymirrors and use implement mirror://cpan for all the perl modules?
Heck, I'm willing to help in the grunt work of converting all the SRC_URI.
:-)
