Subject: [gentoo-dev] gcc-3.3 SLOT question
Date: Sun, 14 Sep 2003 17:35:45 +0200	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <1063553745.24169.25.camel@legolas.local.lan> (raw)

Hi,

Just a short question to the developers:

Why has gcc-3.3 SLOT="3.2"?

A lot of packages currently do not compile with gcc-3.3 so I installed
gcc-3.2 but that unmerged gcc-3.3! Worse, 'emerge -u world' reinstalled
gcc-3.3. I know, I can inject 3.3 but that's not what I want. I want to
use gcc-3.3 as default and want to use gcc-3.2 for those packages that
do not compile with gcc-3.3 but that's not possible because of the
same SLOT. Any solutions? (Or is this the price to pay for "~x86"?)

Thanks!

 -mk-
