I've been wanting to try ximian evolution for some time now, but every
time I try to build a new beta, or new snapshot, something goes wrong.
Currently, wombat segfaults on every startup, causing evolution to
report: Cannot initialize the Ximian Evolution shell: Configuration
Database not found.
Is anyone else haveing this problem? I cannot find the bug on
bugs.ximian.com, so I think this might be something funny about the
gentoo setup. gdb can backtrace all the way to getpwuid_r() from
libc.so.6, but then has no debugging info after that. Does anyone know if
there is a problem with libc itself? should I upgrade to a newer libc6?
(I'm currently running sys-libs/glibc-2.2.3-r2, which is what was
installed with rc-5)
thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
-Nick

I've got the same problem. After compiling the latest build snapshot
completely from scratch everything works fine and so I could write
this mail with evolution-0.13 :-)

Does it seem odd to anyone else that Evolution-1.4.3 is marked stable,
but it depends (apparently) on nspr-4.3 (i think thats the ver) which is
marked unstable. I'm not sure what that is, but wouldn't that make
evolution unstable?

In 1968 it took the computing power of 2 C-64's to fly a rocket to the
moon. Now, in 1998 it takes the Power of a Pentium 200 to run Microsoft
Windows 95. Something must have gone wrong.
