Well it wont lose any of your data or damage your hardware... it just
wont get your eth0 interface up! so you wont be able to read my mail :)
There seems to be a problem with the latest baselayout (bug #21376)
After rebooting the interface doesnt come up... its behaving weirdly.
The simple soulution is to roll back to the older baselayout.
emerge /usr/portage/sys-apps/baselayout/baselayout-1.8.6.7.ebuild
etc-update
Hope the good guys fix this soon or mask it.
phew!!! scary :)

Did you merge all config files (haven't looked at bug, just a knee-jerk
reaction)

Again, this is a mailing-list for development discussion, not shout-outs
to your digital neighbours or general ebuild problems. Please keep this
list clean.

I am sorry ... I only recently subscribed.. and since I thought this is
the place where devs hang-out, also I was almost sure that most people
would have this problem so I thought you ppl might want this to be
brought to your attention immediately.. apparantly some machines are
running fine with this update... my apologies again.
Once again just to confirm... "no problems with ebuilds and portage
should be reported here" right?
Thank you for the wonderful system you ppl are maintaining.

Open bug on it assigned to Azarah, so we're all set there :)
We'd prefer to keep the problems on bugzilla so this list can be used to
discuss development issues and answer Gentoo development-related
questions.

Besides, the post to mailing lst while producing more noise is easier lost
without the track record, and we use bugs.gentoo.org for keeping such
records. Posting a bug to bugzilla ensures that it gets assigned to certain
developer and gets taken care of in a timely manner. In this case, as Jon
suggested, you can assign it directly to azarah@gentoo.org.
(but in general, if you are not sure whom to assign it to, please leave the
corresponding field blank - this will ensure that it gets assigned to the
right developer).
