[gentoo-dev] New emerge take a lot more time

Hello All,

Since the last update of portage (47-r8), each emerge is very long.. the 
hard-disk work a lot.
With a "ps ax", i remark this line :
chmod -R g+rw /usr/portage/distfiles/cvs-src
It execute the line each time it start or end an emerge..
In my make.conf, i use : FEATURES="ccache"
Is this normal or a misconfiguration of my system ?

It is a bug, the devs know about it.  They are in the process of fixing
it.

In the mean time you can get a patch from here
http://gentoo.twobit.net/portage/portage.py-lordvan5.diff that you can
apply against /usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/portage.py

Once applied you may have to remove
/usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/portage.py{c,o}

Please be patient.  If this patch breaks your portage there should be a
rescue copy in /usr/portage/sys-apps/portage/files.

As with all things, at least make a backup of the file you are going to
patch, just in case, and if it breaks, the pieces are all yours :)
