Hi,

I have problems to emerge kde 3.1rc3 on my ~x86 system.

I did an "emerge kde" after unmasking kde3.1_rc3 and it compiled several
dependencies, also kdelibs. Now it hangs at
kdetoys. I also was not able to emerge kdebase "manually" (I though it
was only a problem with kdetoys...)

Hopefuilly someone can help me.

Flo

Found on the forum that it's a libxml2 version problem. 2.4.26 has a bug
(which will be fixed in next release) that is the reason of the "> Entity:
line 7: failed to load external entity "dtd/kdex.dtd" messages.

So, emerge =libxml2-2.4.24, then reemerge kdelibs (has to be compiled with
the good version) and you should then be able to emerge kde3.1_rc3.

For reference, search for "meinproc" in gentoo forums.

Hope it helps.

Marc.

Marc,

thanks for the info. This solved the problem and KDE compiles. I think
the buggy libxml2 should have been masked, shouldnt it?...

Greetings.

Thanks for the tip Marc. After failing to build kde-3.1_rc3, I looked on the
forums (searching for meinproc) for the answer.

The answer for me was to unpack kdelibs-3.0.99, `./configure
--prefix=/usr/kde/3.1`, go to the kdoctools and do `make install`. I had to
do `make install` in kio, dcop, kdeui, kdefx, kdecore, libltdl and kdesu for
this to work. Then, having already emerged libxml2-2.4.24 and qt-3.1.0, I
could successfully `emerge kde`.

KDE-3.1 looks pretty good, but we can either have qt-3.0.5 or qt-3.1.0 - not
both - they have the same slot. What this means for me is that konsole now
segfaults in kde-3.0.4:
$ konsole
KCrash: crashing.... crashRecursionCounter = 2
KCrash: Application Name = konsole path = <unknown> pid = 25496

...presumably because of the wrong Qt?
