Subject: [gentoo-dev] fresh 1.4rc1 install: pam-0.75-r8 SERIOUS ISSUE

Hi,
I'm having a serious problem with latest version of PAM.
When my users are trying to get their mail (pop/imap), the
authentication doesn't work, and in /var/log/mail.log, I can see the
following message:
Oct 22 12:09:56 srv01 imapd[27099]: port 143 service init from
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Oct 22 12:09:56 srv01 imapd[27099]: PAM unable to
dlopen(/lib/security/pam_nologin.so)
Oct 22 12:09:56 srv01 imapd[27099]: PAM [dlerror:
/lib/security/pam_nologin.so: undefined symbol: pam_get_item]
Oct 22 12:09:56 srv01 imapd[27099]: PAM adding faulty module:
/lib/security/pam_nologin.so
Oct 22 12:09:56 srv01 imapd[27099]: PAM unable to
dlopen(/lib/security/pam_stack.so)
Oct 22 12:09:56 srv01 imapd[27099]: PAM [dlerror:
/lib/security/pam_stack.so: undefined symbol: _pam_make_env]
Oct 22 12:09:56 srv01 imapd[27099]: PAM adding faulty module:
/lib/security/pam_stack.so
I know people wrote to the Gentoo forums saying they had the same kind
of problem login with GDM, but no one seems to know a solution or even a
quick hack to temporarily fix this.
It is very serious issue IMHO...
If anyone has any kind of a solution, please help !
Thanks in advance.
Antoine
ps: re-emerging pam doesn't fix the pbm, emerging older verion of PAM
doesn't fix either. This is on a fresh Gentoo 1.4rc1 install from 24
hours ago.
