Hmm .. this sounds like more work than gain. The two (or more) instances
of portage would have to communicate to work out who is doing what.
Just don't start two instances of portage that will install the same
packages. This is still a big gain from RH and Debian (for example),
since they don't let you install several independent packages
simultaniously.
