This is really really strange, if you have the jre installed, does it work to open one of those crashing pages in the appletviewer? appletviewer http://.../ so that we can determine if it's mozilla or java that has some problem at your system. You can also look to see if Mozilla detects the correct plugin by writing:=20 about:plugins=20 in the URI-field in Mozilla, it will list all plugins and where they are loaded from.
