When emerging kde-base/kdenetwork-2.2.1-r1, I got the same errors as for kde pim:

!!! No message digest file found.
!!! Maintainer: ebuild digest to update message digests.
!!! emerge aborting on /usr/portage/kde-base/kdenetwork/kdenetwork-2.2.1-r1.ebuild .

I am not going to try to emerge any more KDE apps until I hear from you guys.

Do not be alarmed; you are missing a messgae digest, a file which contains
the MD5 checksums of the files downloaded for the package. Simply run
ebuild somefile.ebuild digest
to generate this file.

I thought, however, that digests were being generated automatically by the
cvs download util that runs every day. These packages have now existed for
several days, what's up with that?

No you should generate the digest-file when you create a new package/new
version of a package. Set MAINTAINER="yes" in your /etc/make.conf (this
is for Dan) and it will calculate the digest automatically and 'cvs add'
it when you have fetched a file.

I do have MAINTAINER set, I just have a dialup link that's off most of the
time and so the digests aren't cvs added.

Ok, anyway, you have to add them to portage when you commit the package.
