* [gentoo-dev] Compiling a kernel w. gcc-3.1...

I've finally found some time to start building a gcc-3.1 based system from
scratch after a couple of failed initial attemps.

I've now bootstrapped happily (had to revert ncurses and perl as reported
earlier). I can also build a kernel w/o any probs. The system boots fine but
once it's up I have no keyboard?

The kernel .config is identical to the one I have used to build a gcc-2.95.3
system so I wouldn't have thought there's any problems there.

Any hints? Is it simply not a good idea to build the kernel with 3.1 yet
perhaps?

Ta,

/Lasse

I'm afraid I can only tell you I haven't had any problems compiling kernels.
And I've allready build several (2.4.19-crypto-r5, 2.5.17,...) with gcc3.1

switching off acpi seemed to fix the keyboard init for me.

Yes, I was indeed trying to build 2.4.19r5. Got hopeful and disabled acpi
but sadly experienced no improvement. Keyboard still dead.

I've now reverted back to 2.4.18 vanilla and everything is fine (except acpi
doesn't work, no low-latency patch etc)...
