I'm using the following for ebuild

#P=
A=${PN}-0.5.2.tar.bz2
S=${WORKDIR}/${PN}-0.52.
# everything after this point identical to 0.5.0.ebuild
DESCRIPTION="A lightweight email client and newsreader"
SRC_URI="http://sylpheed.good-day.net/sylpheed/${A}"
HOMEPAGE="http://sylpheed.good-day.net"

DEPEND=">=x11-libs/gtk+-1.2
        >=media-libs/compface-1.4
        gnome? ( >=media-libs/gdk-pixbuf-0.10 )
        nls? ( sys-devel/gettext )"

RDEPEND=">=x11-libs/gtk+-1.2
        gnome? ( >=media-libs/gdk-pixbuf-0.10 )"

src_compile() {

    local myconf
    if [ -z "`use gnome`" ] ; then
        myconf="--disable-gdk-pixbuf --disable-imlib"
    fi
    if [ -z "`use nls`" ] ; then
        myconf="$myconf --disable-nls"
    fi
    try ./configure --prefix=/usr/X11R6 --host=${CHOST} --enable-ipv6
$myconf
    try make

}

src_install () {

    try make prefix=${D}/usr manualdir=${D}/usr/share/doc/${PF}/html
install
    dodoc AUTHORS COPYING ChangeLog* NEWS README* TODO*

I did these steps
1) created the ebuild
2) ebuild sylpheed-0.5.2.ebuild fetch
3) ebuild sylpheed-0.5.2.ebuild digest
4) emerge sylpheed-0.5.2.ebuild

}

When I run emerge I get
>>> emerge net-mail/sylpheed-0.5.2 to /
>>> md5 ;-) sylpheed-0.5.2.tar.bz2
>>> Unpacking source...
>>> Unpacking sylpheed-0.5.2.tar.bz2
>>> Source unpacked.
/usr/sbin/ebuild.sh: ./configure: No such file or directory

!!! ERROR: the ./configure command did not complete successfully.
!!! ("./configure --prefix=/usr/X11R6 --host=i486-pc-linux-gnu
--enable-ipv6")
!!! Since this is a critical task, ebuild will be stopped.

!!! emerge aborting on
/usr/portage/net-mail/sylpheed/sylpheed-0.5.2.ebuild .

The source in /usr/tmp/portage/sylpheed-0.5.2/work/sylpheed-0.5.2 looks
normal, and there is a configure file.

Any clues?

Yes; the S= setting has a trailing period.

Thanks.

The only delta required from sylpheed-0.5.0.ebuild to ...0.5.2.... are the
following lines.

A=${PN}-0.5.2.tar.bz2
S=${WORKDIR}/${PN}-0.5.2

I am using gentoo_rc5 with portage 1.5.2 and a default /etc/make.conf.
Someone might want to look and see if it builds with other use and/or cpu
options, although I doubt any problems - I've never had any problems with
sylpheed incremental releases.

OK, sorry about not responding yesterday - I was asleep (different time
zones). Anyway, I'll add this to incoming, hopefully since it's just an
update it'll be into cvs in a day or two.

BTW, drobbins, IMHO we should do something special with incoming updates,
since they can be checked in and tested quicker than a new ebuild, but only
by the original ebuild's author or someone who knows the package well. Maybe
a change in dev-wiki - adding items to other developers (maybe only for
incoming) or, failing that, having all unassigned team todos show up on the
main team page. What do you think? Maybe I'm just making too much o the
incoming buisiness?

What I meant to say was, I can test compiling, but not much of usage. So we
should message a developer directly.

Sorry about the multipart messaging. Since this is a quick and easy change
I'm not adding any files to incoming, just a quick note to dev-wiki for the
corresponding team.

A very final note: I *can* test this particular case, so I'll do so. What I
said earlier was about incoming updates in general. Sorry, I'm just mentally
disorganized right now.

After all this, it turned out that Achim already added sylpheed-0.5.2 two
days ago. Happy ending!
