Dear Joerg,

Well the gdm script has some probs

it does not create /var/lib/gdm with permissions 750 and owner.group gdm.gdm

it needs this directory to pu some locks.

so gdm fails to start

Please check this and also loads of "grep scrollkeeper" error

Also with the gnumeric ebuild you need libxml-1.8.14 - i added this to 
DEPEND

inbtw:
A=${P}.tar.gz is not required anymore its auto generated from SRC_URI
instead add this to SR_URI
ex. SRC_URI="http://www.foobar.foo/foo/${P}.tar.gz

also add the following to ./configure for FHS 2.2 Compliance

--mandir=/usr/share/man --infodir=/usr/share/info

in packages where manpages and info is generated

This was suggested to me by Daniel Robbins

xemacs,gentoo,netleds_applet, merged fine

commiting the rest of the stuff

keep it going joerg ... well done :))

Hi,

I get som errors with the alsa util to restore the volume,
all is working ok, but it dont look nice. I have tried to build my own kernel,
but i still get the errors.

Sorry for bad english, and keep up the good work, gentoo rocks :-)

On my system i have add aliases in modules.conf. First i have the same
error. Do you use devfs? I am running devfs and add these lines to
/etc/modules/${kernelversion}:

alias snd-card-1 /dev/sound
alias snd-card-2 /dev/sound
...

thx, but i still have the probelm, im runnig rc5, and i have followed the 
desktop guide on the gentoo homepage. Strange !

this works with devfs only.
And after the /etc/rc.d/init.d/modules skript recreate the /etc/modules.conf
So reboot you system or execute

'/etc/rc.d/init.d/modules start'
