I second that. It actually works better than rc2 for emu10k1 cards. There
was some distortion with rc2 that seems to be fixed in rc3.

okay, I've been running this since it was released now, and I've found
no problems with it.. I propose we unmask it.

There are *build time* problems with the alsa-driver package for rc3
(bug #7291). This is the only reason that the rc3 ebuilds are still
masked. If the driver compiles for you, then, indeed, it works very
nicely.
Note that at some point another dev unmasked rc3 by accident. Within
the next several hours I received three bug reports of failed
compilations. ;^) So, in other words, I don't feel right about
unmasking rc3 quite yet.

Actually, alsa 0.9.0_rc4 was just released. I've been following the alsa-dev
list, though, and people seem to have problems compiling alsa-lib.
But yes, rc3 works perfectly here, too.

I would further endorse that as RC2 does not work on my laptop which has
a ymfpci card. RC3 works great.

I too have been running it since release, and have had no problems with either
my laptop or desktop machines. So I guess I second this proposal.

I too have been running rc3 for a while without any problem. It was
necessary for my Hercules Game Theater XP card to work. I had to
./configure and make manually to enable the new DSP hacks however...
