Thanks for your reply. I think the problem is a combination of the Bios and
maybe the processor. I created a second ISO CD that I tested in a third PC
(P1-200Megahertz) and it boots fine. But when moved to the target AMD K5 PC
it is not detected. Maybe this ISO Linux CD boot system is too new for my
old ADM K5 PC :)
Any way, we need a solution for these cases. Have a two stage booting
process where the first stage is in diskette with the second stage on CD.
There are plenty of 486s/K5s that can be recycled into firewalls, mail
servers and what-have-you with Gentoo.

Are you using a CD-WRiter?
It did not work on my machine when I used my CD-Writer device, but it
did work on
normal CD-R.
