Hello all,

I would like to announce our newest addition from Buffalo NY, Devan
Franchini who will contribute as twitch153.

He is a student of Anthony (blueness) at the D'youville college and is
studying for a degree in Information Technology. With Anthony he has
been working for some time already on the webapp-config, where he will
continue his contribution at first.

Last year he contributed to the GSOC with swift on selinux policy generator.

Here some lines he provided about himself:

"My hobbies involve a lot about computers: upgrading them, tweaking
settings on an OS to get it exactly how I’d like it to be, or learning
how a computer works altogether. I enjoy programming and development as
well.

I set up a lot of side projects that I would like to work on; such as
porting Gentoo to my Android tablet (the Nexus 7) and getting it to
dual-boot Android and Gentoo, getting the parts for an old school NES
controller and working with it to mount flash storage as well as making
it a controller (I want to do this so I can put a NES emulator onto it
and use the controller as an actual USB controller and USB storage).

I used to be more artistic when I was younger; I drew a lot and I used
to play the piano. I do game on occasion to wind down and relax but I
prefer old school games as opposed to newer games like Call of Duty, and
other popular FPS (first person shooters).

I have this mindset where I believe that knowledge is one of the most
important things we have. So when something impedes on our quest for
knowledge it is just a hindrance. This sounds vague and rather out of
place but it’s the main reason I got into development in the first
place. Options mean everything to me and I don’t believe an operating
system or computer (or anything) should be locked down by a manufacturer
simply because we should have the freedom to fix or screw things up on
our own accord, so we can create better things or learn from our
mistakes. This mentality is really where it all began for me and it’s
what really drove me to want to become a part of the Gentoo development
team."

This sounds quite interesting to me so I am looking forward to his
contributions.

Please give him all a warm welcome!

Justin
