Good evening everyone,
It is my pleasure to announce a new staffer to our community. Andrea
"spiros" Arteaga is joining us from Zurich, Switzerland and he will be
working on the science overlay and on his GSOC 2011 project. Here is
how he describes himself:
"I'm a master student of computational science and engineering at the
Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich. As such, I'm specially
expert in numerical simulations with C, C++, Python (and Fortran...
sigh). Last year I performed a Google Summer of Code, developing a
benchmarking suite for numerical libraries designed for Gentoo;
Sébastien Fabbro (bicatali) was my mentor. I'm still slowly
maintaining this project. I started writing some ebuilds for
scientific software, but I have to practicize more with that; with the
help of the community (and Sébastien in particular) I hope I will
become abler to write good ebuilds. Beside my passion for programming
and computer in general, I'm
basketball referee, and I was player for ~12 years before."
