Hi to all!

Looking in livecd-stage2 spec, i have seen that unionfs has been
enabled for livecd 2007.

Wich versione of genkernel and kernel should i use to get this?

Thank you very much

Luca

It's enabled, but it doesn't seem to work.

We used genkernel-3.4.8 and gentoo-sources-2.6.19-r5 for the release.

As far as I know, unionfs doesn't work for >2.6.20 kernels. At least not portage's ones.
aufs on the sunrise overlay seems a very interesting alternative. Does someone know if there are plans to integrate it into standard portage tree?

Have you tested it with 2.6.19-r5 ?

It was apparently working with early builds of the 2007.0 release using that
kernel, but "something" happened, and it no longer works in the official release
media. We haven't investigated it yet, since it wasn't an advertised feature.

Is there any chance gentoo-livecd will ever use an alternative union-filesystem as aufs? It does compile and work fine with later kernels (I use it with a 2.6.20-gentoo-r8 kernel under amd64).
