Do you have an entry like the following before the above entry?
boot/kernel: gentoo
boot/kernel/gentoo/sources: gentoo-sources
boot/kernel/gentoo/config: /root/catalyst/kconfig/x86/livecd-2.6.17.config
The first line of that is likely the most important part.
