Hello,
I would like to create a simple custom installer, which automaticly
install a 'developer' machine, with some custom package (eclipse,
mysql, firefox, openoffice-bin), preferrably from binary packages, for
fast install. Unfortunately the documentation of catalyst is parse,
(somewhere it's explicitly declared as 'obsolete' or 'outdated') and I
can't found any simple tutorial which command to execute.
Is it possible with catalyst? If yes, how? The files at
/usr/share/doc/catalyst- 2.0.2/examples were not very helpful. For me,
it's not clear what to modify and how.

Catalyst has very little to do with the installer. If you want to modify the
installer, you are completely on your own.

You can find more info on the installer at the address:
http://gentoo.org/proj/en/releng/installer
'catalyst' is a subproject of the 'releng' project, as well as 'installer'.
You were almost at it!
