Nicholas,

I couldn't say which build you would need (as I havn't yet had the chance to install Gentoo/FreeBSD ;), but FYI, Java binaries can be found here:

http://freebsdfoundation.org/downloads/java.shtml

Of course you couldn't just install them with pkg_add as you normally would on a FreeBSD, but I believe all of the necessary binaries, etc. install to /usr/local/diablo- jdk1.5.0. So if you happen to have a spare machine to host a temporary FreeBSD install on, then a workaround could be to instal the package there and then just bring the directory over to the new system.

All, of course, assuming you can't use the Gentoo Linux build... Anyway, just a shot in the dark...

hey guys,

Most of the Java builds in portage seam to depend on one Linux compenent
or another.
(now for the question)

What Java build should i use on my Gentoo/FreeBSD install?
