I had a difficult time getting my twinview settings set up correctly for my laptop, until I emerged nvidia-settings, and used it to configure it just right - it makes it fairly simple to do - I'd suggest just giving that a try. You can get it set up just right, then either have the nvidia-settings application save the configuration to your xorg.conf file, or just show you what that xorg.conf file would look like, so you can cut and paste.
