[gentoo-amd64] Opteron/Athlon64 Laptops

Hello everyone,
I am thinking about getting another workstation or maybe a laptop to 
replace my GenTel machine, and I've had such a great experience with my 
Gentoo64 server that I thought I would maybe try an Opteron or Athlon64 
laptop, any advice or recommendations?

I have a Compaq R3000 laptop. I like it really much, with a few
exeptions: no native wireless dirver (have to use ndiswrapper),
non-working media card slot thing (encrypted firmware). Otherwise it's
quite good. There is a new version out now, the R4000. One of the
differences is that it has Radeon instead of Nvidia and it's a bit of
a PITA to setup.
