I'm guessing there's some problems with the build they're trying to fix. Let's see what gentoo bugzilla has to say... Hmm... seems it's in the mozilla overlay, but not yet in the tree, here's the buglist URL (watch the wrap): http://bugs.gentoo.org/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=ALL+www-client%2Fmozilla- firefox-3.5 Not too many bugs listed, yet. Whatever's keeping it out of the tree probably isn't bugged, as they already know about it and are working on it in the overlay. It'd be nice if they'd put it in the tree, hard-masked if necessary. That's the frustration with overlays. They're fine with betas and rcs and whatever, but once upstream releases, moving it to the tree proper, even if hard masked, would be nice. But some devs/projects prefer to continue with the overlay until all the problems are worked out, which is frustrating for those who want to test it, and are willing to do so even if they have to unmask it, regardless of whatever's keeping it hard masked. Anyway, it's apparently in the mozilla overlay. Either merge layman if necessary and use it to manage your overlays, adding the mozilla overlay there, or handle the overlay (which requires subversion) manually, or wait... I guess. -- Duncan - List replies preferred. No HTML msgs. "Every nonfree program has a lord, a master -- and if you use the program, he is your master." I read the brain isn't working part, then started with the surgery to remove a large bone fragment... and you can guess how /my/ brain filled in the rest... "from my foot" is NOT what I expected! So now thanks to you I've an image of someone walking around with a brain (with a large bone fragement in it) on/in their foot! OTOH, I should be asleep right now. I'm tired enough such imagery comes /way/ too easily! -- Duncan - List replies preferred. No HTML msgs. "Every nonfree program has a lord, a master -- and if you use the program, he is your master." It is hardmasked in package.mask Look at the (masked by: package.mask) To unmask it, use echo "~www-client/mozilla-firefox-3.5">>/etc/portage/package.unmask Maybe other packages must be unmasked to. You know if emerge =www-client/mozilla-firefox-3.5 says so. Add the other packages to package.unmask same way as with firefox above. Then install ff3.5_rc3 (and it's masked/keyworded deps) from the mozilla overlay <http://overlays.gentoo.org/proj/mozilla> to help test. I had some issues with xulrunner-1.9.1_rc2, but _rc3 fixes them, and I built 3.5_rc3 earlier w/o problems. -- ...jsled http://asynchronous.org/ - a=jsled; b=asynchronous.org; echo ${a}@${b} [-- Attachment #2: Type: application/pgp-signature, Size: 197 bytes --] ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 21+ messages in thread
