I rebooted the machine clean to the command line prompt and then typed
modprobe i915 modeset=0
and except for the first 3 lines everything below was created in
dmesg. At this point the screen s black and the light on the front is
blinking like it does when the computer is turned off.
I haven't been able to solve the MTRR thing yet. I've tried a bunch of
different settings but it doesn't change those results.
Is it typical to call the device a 'fb0: inteldrmfb frame buffer
device'? I assume that's not the i915 but rather the drm?
