Hi Folks,

Has any thought gone into enabling serial console support on the live
CDs? It should only require an extra parameter to be passed to the
kernel and a change to /etc/inittab. This feature would be at the
absolute top of my wish list.

Cheers,

-J

1. you sent to to the wrong people(releng is who you want)
2. if you're going to gpg sign your mail, upload your public key so we
can verify
3. it's a good idea, so it's probably already included(but not documented)

OK - I'll try again.

It's been on "keyservers" for years...

Possible - but it's certainly not enabled by default.

That reminds me, I tried that once (with 2006.0?) and it did enable
redirection of console output but the tty wouldn't accept any input for
some reason. I'll try it again with 2006.1...

Of course, but you should add the desired baudrate and settings too. For
example

-> console=ttyS0,115200n8

Obviously -- This is how I setup the systems once they have been
successfully installed (and modify the inittab). The point was that
this did not work for some reason with the 2006.0 livecd. I'll try this
with 2006.1 later today.
