hm, I have no problem doing that. I have setup  script at Fn-F7 which cycles
between one screen modes, mirror and extended monotir and it cycles just fine,
with non-uniform resolution and everthing. With projector, sometimes it need
CLI help to get a right mode, but never had to restart X.
And that is Randr 1.2 with 1.5 server on intel
