hi,

do i need all these installed? is this safe to remove older emul versions?
# eselect java-vm list
Available Java Virtual Machines:
  [1]   blackdown-jdk-1.4.2  system-vm
  [2]   emul-linux-x86-java-1.4.2
  [3]   emul-linux-x86-java-1.5
  [4]   emul-linux-x86-java-1.6
  [5]   sun-jdk-1.6

One can experiment: unmerge one that looks plausibly unneeded and then 
'emerge --deep world' to see if it is pulled back in.  
'eix-test-obsolete' is a useful tool for this sort of question as well.
